Excellent Purchase
This camera is excellent. It is very easy to use in every way with intuative controls. It is easy to download and the quality of
resulting HD video footage is fantastic, even when converted to SD, the quality is still very good.
The viewfinder and LCD display is very clear and bright, the extra features work very well, the backlight compensator, lowlight feature
(if you like green) and the facility to take still pictures while you video is surprisingly valuable.
I took my camera to Africa on Safari and it was bashed about a bit and exposed to sand and rain but with no problems, my main concern
with an HDD. With the QM71D, battery life is not a problem.
This is a very good purchase.
Sony HDR-SR1E
Really excellent and comfortable camcorder for recording and watching but it is not available for editing. Today that camera is with huge
failing: this does not have FireWire and its footage with file extension .m2ts is not available for converting in HD format. Perhaps in
the nearest future it will be the best one when someone invent a conversion for that extension but now Sony HDR-SR1E is usual camcorder
with usual MPEG2.
Very nice camera
This camera is really nice. The video quality is brilliant.
Currently, you cannot edit the AVCHD hi-def video clips on any major video editing software.
However, you can set the camera to Standard definition mode and you get an mpeg file which you can edit.
The video quality is good in standard definition too. Hopefully the major apps will soon support AVCHD.
Some nice things... you can take up to two photos whilst filming at the same time! With flash!
The photos that this takes are also very reasonable. You could use this to take fairly decent still photos. The touch screen is also very
intuitive and easy to use.
With no running costs whatsoever, this camera is very nice.
