The GZ-MG505EK gives an unmatched image grain to all your shots thanks to its unbelievable Tri-CCD system. It creates sharp and vivid images by dedicating a 1.33 (1.23 effective) megapixel CCD to each red, green and blue colour. JVC's advanced prism optics and filterless 3-CCD pixel shift technology quadruple the pixel count to a record 5 megapixel-class stills. In 16:9 video mode Everio uses 774,180 effective pixels for each RGB colour for full resolution 2.3 Megapixel imaging. Thanks to the broader dynamic range, you can enjoy videos with truly realistic colours and digital stills up to 2560 x 1920 pixels for beautiful A4 prints. JVC optics using three-dimension angle mounting technology assures high precision prism/CCD registration with extreme accuracy on the order of one micron. In fact, this innovative technology enables each primary colour of the image to benefit from a dedicated sensor that guarantees extremely natural recordings. The 10x powerful optic zoom restitutes even the minutest details of the shot. The panoramic mode enables you to record your videos in the 16/9 mode with a 720 x 576 pixels maximum resolution. The storing mode of the camcorder is yet another delight that the GZ-MG505EK has to offer: It has a 1.8" mini hard disk and a capacity of 30 Gb! You can record up to 37 hours of video or 7 hours of high quality digital recording. You can then write the recordings on your DVD using the USB connection without even switching on your computer. It has a diagonal 2.7" (6.9 cm) antireflection LCD screen. The GZ-MG505EK is very easy to use. The direction button is close to the screen. The presentation interface in the form of thumbnails ensures an easy navigation on the camera menu. In addition, the INDEX/DATA button enables you to know the balance capacity of the battery and the hard disk space available. Wow
This camcorder combines a camcorder and stills camera in one. The video quality is excellent from such a tiny thing. The video quality is great and the convinience on the hard disc is great...just plug into the usb 2.0 of your computer and its just like a portable hard drive. The video files are called .mod files but bizarrely all you need to do is rename the file as .mpg and it works fine! I haven't used the supplied software for video editing but it's a stripped down version of Cyberlink's Power Director software. For stills it takes an SD card so it is just like a normal camera.
